Recovery of Tungsten from scrap

In addition to facilitating oxidation/reduction reactions, hydrogen peroxide  will solubilise refractory metals via the formation of peroxy complexes.

The ability of hydrogen peroxide to form complexes with a number of transition metals is utilised in a process to recover tungsten from various types of scrap, including tungsten carbides and heavy metal alloys.

The reaction between tungsten and hydrogen peroxide in acid solution allows rapid and efficient dissolution of any type of tungsten carbide waste without the necessity for pre-treatment, crushing or grinding.
